I lifted chest, back, and shoulders very quickly (time was short) at the ISU gym. I then cycled for 10 minutes at a resistance of 5-7 for 10 minutes at 90+ rpm. (I weighed myself before my workout in the ISU locker room, and the scale said 204 lbs. Probably the heaviest I have ever been).

After cycling on a standard stationary bike, I jogged 1 mile on an ISU treadmill at a pace of 5.4-6.0. My right knee popped while I was running my first lap, and it was painful. I would have gone farther but the gym closed, and all of the treadmills were previously occupied, (which is why I was on a bike for 10 minutes).

I tried to jog outside, but after running about 0.75 miles I felt a pain in my right calf as if I pulled/strained it again (like I did on September 2nd, 2008). I walked for about a minute before running again, but the pain was felt immediately. I walked home for a total distance of 1.5 miles.

I was running toward ISU, and I pulled my right calf just before I reached the main campus. There are some uneven sidewalks in the vicinity, so I'm speculating as to whether the uneven surface may have contributed to the injury. I did run about 4 miles on Saturday, and towards the end of that run, both of my calves felt relatively tender (so maybe they weren't completely recovered from that run). When I injured my calf in September of 2008, I thought that I may have been slightly hungry, but tonight I was well hydrated and nourished (the weather was windy/rainy and cold at about 45 degrees F though). 

After I ate dinner, I noticed that while walking around the house my right calf was very sore.

I walked/jogged the clear creek canyon trail in SLC today for a total distance of 6.5 miles. Going up to the top of the paved road is about 3.25 miles. I walked about 2 miles up (so both of my calves were very warm and actually somewhat fatigued), before very slowly jogging about 0.25 miles to test my previously injured right calf. Then after walking some more going up, I jogged about 0.1 miles, before stopping because I didn't want to overdo it. On the return trip going down, I walked 1 mile, before jogging about 0.75 miles to see how my calf felt going down.

Overall, my right calf felt okay. There were a few steps where I thought that it was very tender/ginger, but in general it was okay. Going down, my knees actually were very tender.

I walked 0.25 miles as a warm-up at the Capital HS track, then I jogged 2.5 miles before stopping due to a relatively minor strain in my left calf (so frustrating)! My first mile was at a pace of 8:15 min/mile, my second mile was at a pace of 8:45 min/mile, and my next 2 laps were at a pace of a 9:00 min/mile. The temperature outside was 100 degrees, and on the black surfaced track probably 105-110 degrees, so the heat definitely wore me down after the first mile, and may have contributed to the strained feeling in my left calf. I then walked 2.25 miles so that my total distance today was 5 miles.

I walked 1.5 miles at the Capital High School track, before I jogged 0.5 miles at a slow (about 10:00 min/mile) pace. I had to stop after 2 laps b/c I re-injured/tweaked my left calf again (from Friday's tweak in my left calf). I then walked another 0.25 laps as a cool-down. The temperature outside was 90-95 F, so the temperature on the track was probably 95-105 F, which may have contributed to injuring my left calf. Total distance was 2.25 miles. (It should be noted that the next day my left calf was very sensitive and tender).

As I was running the first lap of the fourth mile, I pulled my left calf. The pain was rather abrupt, and occurred in only 1 step. Good job! I normally don't use a treadmill, but I was at the gym the other day and did 20 minutes, walking. Pretty good workout when the incline increases!

I noticed that one of your short-term running goals is to decrease stress! Exercise is the way to do it!! My running partner and I swear that running is the best and cheapest therapy ever!!
